There is no unified “school” in the Shenzhen design circle, but it has formed the world’s most active style experimental field. There are four seemingly opposing yet harmoniously coexisting design paradigms here:

Minimalism in Technology
Representative companies: Huawei ANKER
Feature: Remove all unnecessary elements and pursue an “intangible” technological experience
Case: Huawei Mate series laptops adopt a hidden pivot design, which creates a floating visual experience when unfolded, completely hiding technical complexity under a simple appearance

neo-functionalism
Representative companies: DJI, Shaoyin
Characteristic: Form absolutely obeys function, but endows function with aesthetic expression
Case: The folding structure of DJI drones is not only the ultimate pursuit of portability, but also constitutes a unique mechanical aesthetic

Humanized emotional design
Representative companies: Elvis Presley Sound System, Double Easy
Features: Injecting emotional memories and cultural symbols, creating emotional connections
Case: Elvis Presley’s radio combines the design language of 1930s electronic tube radios with modern Bluetooth technology to awaken collective memory

Future sci-fi style

Features: Bold use of RGB lighting, transparent materials, and aggressive styling

    For example, Shenzhen Dingdian Creative Design Company often serves different markets such as Europe, America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East simultaneously. This multi market parallelism forces designers to master the ability of “style switching”: designing medical devices that conform to German aesthetics today, and creating smart home products that cater to the preferences of the Middle Eastern market tomorrow.
