一、深入洞察用户

(一)多渠道收集用户数据

传统设计往往基于宽泛的市场调研,而要满足个性化需求,需更深入精准。工业设计师可通过线上问卷、社交媒体互动、用户社区等多渠道收集数据。例如,一家运动装备公司通过运动类 APP 开展问卷调查,了解不同运动爱好者对装备功能、材质、外观的具体需求。还在社交媒体发起话题讨论,鼓励用户分享运动经历与对装备的期望,从中挖掘潜在个性化需求。

(二)建立用户画像

依据收集的数据,为不同用户群体建立详细画像。比如,针对年轻时尚的跑步爱好者,他们注重装备的时尚外观与智能功能,追求与手机 APP 连接,实时记录运动数据。针对专业马拉松选手,更看重装备的轻量化、透气性及支撑性,对细节设计如鞋舌的贴合度、鞋带的防滑性有严格要求。通过精准画像,设计师能明确不同用户需求,为个性化设计提供依据。

二、创新设计方法

(一)模块化设计

将产品分解为多个模块,每个模块具备特定功能,用户可根据自身需求自由组合。以电脑为例,传统电脑配置固定,而采用模块化设计后,用户可自行选择 CPU、显卡、内存等模块进行组装,满足游戏玩家对高性能显卡的需求,或商务人士对大容量存储与低功耗 CPU 的要求。又如,模块化家具允许用户根据空间大小、使用习惯自由拼接组合,打造个性化家居环境。

(二)定制化设计

借助 3D 打印、数字化制造等技术,实现产品定制。珠宝品牌推出定制服务,用户可通过线上平台设计珠宝款式,选择宝石种类、金属材质与造型细节,设计师根据用户设计制作独一无二的珠宝。一些服装品牌也提供定制服务,消费者可选择面料、图案、款式,甚至添加个人元素,如名字缩写、特殊符号等,满足个性化着装需求。

三、材料与工艺创新

(一)探索新型材料

新型材料为个性化设计提供更多可能。智能变色材料应用于眼镜,镜片可根据光线、温度或用户指令改变颜色。生物可降解材料用于产品包装,既环保又能为注重环保的消费者提供独特选择。还有形状记忆合金,可用于制作具有独特造型与功能的产品,如遇热变形后恢复原状的首饰,满足追求新奇产品用户的需求。

Traditional design is often based on broad market research, and to meet personalized needs, it requires more in-depth and precise analysis. Industrial designers can collect data through multiple channels such as online questionnaires, social media interactions, and user communities. For example, a sports equipment company conducts a questionnaire survey through a sports app to understand the specific needs of different sports enthusiasts for equipment functions, materials, and appearance. We are also initiating topic discussions on social media, encouraging users to share their sports experiences and expectations for equipment, and exploring potential personalized needs from them.

(2) Establish user profile

Based on the collected data, create detailed profiles for different user groups. For example, targeting young and fashionable running enthusiasts, they pay attention to the fashionable appearance and intelligent functions of their equipment, pursue connection with mobile apps, and record real-time exercise data. For professional marathon runners, more emphasis is placed on lightweight, breathable, and supportive equipment, with strict requirements for details such as tongue fit and shoelace slip resistance. Through precise profiling, designers can identify different user needs and provide a basis for personalized design.

2、 Innovative Design Methods

(1) Modular design

Decompose the product into multiple modules, each with specific functions that users can freely combine according to their own needs. Taking computers as an example, traditional computers have fixed configurations, but with modular design, users can choose modules such as CPU, graphics card, and memory to assemble, meeting the needs of gamers for high-performance graphics cards or business people for large capacity storage and low-power CPUs. For example, modular furniture allows users to freely assemble and combine according to space size and usage habits, creating personalized home environments.

(2) Customized design

By utilizing technologies such as 3D printing and digital manufacturing, product customization can be achieved. Jewelry brands have launched customized services, where users can design jewelry styles through online platforms, choose gemstone types, metal materials, and styling details, and designers can create unique jewelry based on user designs. Some clothing brands also offer customized services, where consumers can choose fabrics, patterns, styles, and even add personal elements such as abbreviations and special symbols to meet their personalized dressing needs.

3、 Innovation in Materials and Processes

(1) Explore new materials

New materials provide more possibilities for personalized design. Intelligent color changing materials are applied to glasses, and the lenses can change color according to light, temperature, or user instructions. Biodegradable materials are used for product packaging, which is both environmentally friendly and provides unique choices for environmentally conscious consumers. There are also shape memory alloys that can be used to create products with unique shapes and functions, such as jewelry that returns to its original state after thermal deformation, meeting the needs of users who pursue novel products.

(2) Optimize manufacturing process

Advanced manufacturing processes enable more complex and refined designs. Laser engraving technology carves personalized patterns and text on the surface of products, such as carving user favorite anime characters on phone cases. Water cutting technology can cut various unique shaped components, which are applied in furniture and lighting design to create unique product forms and meet users’ pursuit of unique appearance.
